The final film from Hungarian auteur Béla Tarr is a brilliant rumination on death and human existence. Drawing inspiration from German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche’s rumored mental breakdown after witnessing the whipping of a horse, this fictional period drama details the final days of an aging farmer, his daughter and their horse. Set against a desolate black-and-white landscape and shot in 30 long takes, THE TURIN HORSE is a haunting yet one of a kind cinematic experience. In Hungarian and German w/ subtitles.
